Be careful of what you wish for

OK I got my belated Christmas present and I can't wait to open it this Sunday. I've been wishing this for a whole year. Another chance to go to the Super Bowl.I have to admit I'm anxious about the game because I never know which team is going to show up. Is it a balanced attack that probes the defense or a pass happy offense that is totally predictable. Only time will tell. I know I'm not the only one who gave up on the Birds. The parking lots around the Linc were full but not as vibrant as usual. The dark clouds that blanketed the sky were as foreboding as the slim cast of regulars at the tailgate party. Many jumped off the band wagon before last weeks win only to scramble back on as the TVs in the parking lot blared each score that borough the Eagles to their current destiny. I know what I really want, another trip to Florida but I'm too scared to say the words out loud. It kills me to have to sweat it out one week at a time, trying to convince myself that the Eagles are worthy of my support. Man I hate being a homer but I'll never change so why worry about it. Instead I wish you all a "Happy New Year" and I'll see you in the parking lot.

Crazy is as Crazy Does

What the hell was Andy thinking! Didn't the last three games teach him anything about a balanced attack? Wasn't it windy enough? Wasn't the receiving corps depleted enough? Wasn't Westbrook healthy enough. What the hell was he thinking? Who gos to the 5 & 10 store when your shopping for a playoff berth? It's just crazy. Here's how Webster defines crazy:full of cracks or flaws: Unsound; also crooked, askew- sound familiar. I know I fit this second part of the definition: Mad (I'm mad as hell about the loss) Insane (why do I yell he's open to the TV), Impractical (I keep buying Eagles gear which I won't wear when they lose), Distracted with desire or excitement (I can't wait for the next game, what a homer). And to think I was feeling bad about creating a Holiday sweatshirt to show my feelings "Ho Ho Ho Andy must Go" embellished with holiday graphics.

Maybe I should include my feelings about Marty Mornhinweg on the back of the shirt. Mmmm something like "Marty Mornhinweg - Crazy is as Crazy does." Or "Prevent Marty in 2009." If I could only rime Mornhiweg. Hey help me out. Send me your best slogan about Marty so I can add it to the back of the shirt.

All I want for Christmas is a Win and a Loss

That's right I'm looking for a loss. Not an Eagles loss mind you but a loss for the Falcons or Bucs. I'm thinking that there is more of a chance that Atlanta will loose this week since they are on the road. But hey I'd accept a loss at home by the Bucs. Notice I'm not even thinking about that win I mentioned, because I think it's a lock. The Eagles are going to beat Washington and set up the biggest game of the year at home against the Cowgirls. It's going to be a big show so get your popcorn ready. Don't sit back. Come down to the game even if you don't have a ticket. There will be plenty of tailgate parties that you can join. Of course you know I'll be at Cav's Eagles Tailgate party but that's just me. Big fun will be had in all the parking lots. Start planning your party today! Better yet come to Cav's and let him do the cooking for you. That's all for now. I want to see you in the parking lot.

God is on our side!

Yea you read it correctly, God loves the Eagles. Why else would he be giving us spring like temperatures for Monday Night's game? Although waiting until then will kill me, I hate not having an Eagles game to watch on Sunday. I mean it's my main excuse for smoking, drinking, cursing and overeating. What am I supposed to do, go to church? Give me a break. I might have to review my honey-do list or find some other excuse for why I'm not attending. The one about I don't want to be struck by lighting when I enter the church's parking lot is getting old. Look I worship in my own way. I am giving thanks for the weather and will be saying a prayer for B West and company. So I don't feel bad about supporting a more traditional approach. It's me the Eagles and you Lord against the rest of the NFL, and I like it that way. Hey speaking about giving thanks, did you hear about the "Let's Say Thanks" program that Xerox is sponsoring. It allows you to send a holiday card to the troops serving on active duty. I support their effort hope you will to. Go to http://www.cavseaglestailgate.com/postit.htm and send your card today.

And I'll see you in the parking lot.

How I helped the Eagles Beat the Giants

OK OK, you read the last blog and wonder how dare I say things like the title of this blog. But it's true, I swear it. You see I've been a practitioner of "Opposite Boy" philosophy for some time. For those of you who ain't familiar with it the basic premise is your not in touch with your inter feelings. Well you are, you just got them backwards. What that means is you always do the opposite of what you think is the right thing to do. So for sports you make a list of who's going to win then bet on the other team. Makes perfect sense doesn't it. I mean this is the same way bookies and hedge funds work. They play both sides of the issue to reduce the risk. So on Sunday I changed all my bets from the Eagles to the Giants thereby guarantying that the Eagles would win outright. So there you are, you can thank me for being the Giant Killer, I mean after all I did as much s Westbrook didn't I?

Two For The Price of One

OK OK now I get it. Donovan's mind was on his wife and soon to be twins for the last month. That's as good an excuse as any. Now that we got that out of the way can we get back to some winning football. Hello it's the freaking Super Bowl Champions dude! Lets hear some real talk about how your going to get this done. I mean unless we can get a gun to fall on the floor next to Manning, Jacobs, Dunn etc we don't have a chance. But wait, what if it was a machine gun? Mmmmm then we might get them all. Just kidding. But really folks what are the Eagles going to do? Do anyone think Donovan can lead this team to victory? I don't and I'm already planning to take Monday off and stay in bed. What are you going to do?
