Deal or No Deal

As I count down the days to the Eagles home opener on Sept 16, I think about how much it's going to cost me for the year. I'm lucky to be able to buy tickets from my buddy Bobby Cavanaugh for face value vs what others sell them for. A quick check of the ticket sites shows that tickets in my section for the home opener where going for between $105 - $179 and $79 for a SRO. I got a deal! Then there is the parking. Parking in the lots next to the stadium is $54-$59 bucks. Parking across the street at Jetro is about $25. Another deal! Food & drinks are hard to calculate because everyone is different. Some people don't arrive until 1/2 before the game with that puzzled look on their face, Like where do I park? Not sure why these jerks even both to show. There is no way to park the car, walk to the stadium and get thru the gauntlet of pad down artists in a 1/2 hour! Some people like to make a day of it and arrive early set up their grill, and play in the parking lot, my kind of people. They could be eating hot dogs, they could be eating burgers, or ribs, or they could be eating filet mignon steak sandwiches with a shrimp, musses and clam salad if they eat at Cav's. The cost of parking in Jetro and getting all you can eat and drink at Cav's is about the same as just parking next to the stadium! Now that's a deal that I can live with for the entire year! Don't overpay eat at Cav's and I'll see you in the parking lot!"

Opening Day 2012

Ok just got back from Pittsburgh road trip and we had a ball. The next day after a win is always great but with so much uncertainty around the injury riddled Phillies this win was special. As always we stay at the Sheraton Station Square in the south side. A great place with many fine bars and restaurants within short walking distance. The weather was just beautiful both days and we got in early enough to enjoy the sights before the next days game. I must say the town was a little quite not the rocking city it was last year, but I'm sure that's due to the mid-week game and Easter week. Not that it deterred us from having a good time. I shocked many Pens fans by walking around in my  Orange and Black Flyer gear. Had a few yell obscenities as they speed past in their car, pussy's that they were. But overall most were nice. We got to PNC park the next day and parked the bus on the street next to another bus of Pirate fans, again shock and awe as we exited and set up our party. This group of revelers was a local group with the B11 Party Bus. They were very friendly, almost got some the girls to come home on our bus. Oh well maybe next trip, but  I'm definably  going to the B11 bar on the south-side next time I in town to check them out. Got to the game and our seats in sec 130 which was in the sun the whole game so we pealed off our extra layers of Phillie's gear. Settled in to watch Doc Halladay the pitching machine do his thing. As you know it was a low-scoring game 1 nothing, which was made special for us by the appearance of Gregg Murphy of Phillie's correspondent who noticed our sea of red and stopped by to chat. Too bad his mic when down so no sound bites but we got plenty of text messages from friends and family who said they saw us on TV. I posted a video of some of the more obnoxious Pirate fans who were pathetic in their heckling. "Halladay is over-rated," "You should have beat us by 7." Really? Is that all you got? Want a lesson in heckling? Let me introduce you to  Philly's own Bell Man Blair, who was not on this trip but is a legend at many stadiums to the chagrin of the local fans. Any why outside of few A-holes the people in Pittsburgh are great fun-loving bunch like the crew from that B11 Party Bus. Talk about your party animals, when we returned to the bus after the game they were dancing on the roof of the bus. Now that's my kinda of people. An hour and a half loop around the stadium in traffic after the game and we spotted them from the overhead and they were still dancing! These people know how to party after a loss. I can't imagine what would have happened if the Pirates won! Anyway another great road trip too bad if you missed it. Have a great week and I'll see you in the parking lot.

Is it too Early to think about the Phillies?

Ok so what do Eagles fans do now? If you like me you pray for good spring weather and start making plans to see the Phillies. There's nothing better than an opening day road and this year its' in Pittsburgh. What a great town, I've been there many times and always have a ball. This year I'm returning to the scene of last year's fun-filled stay at the Sheraton station Square. Great place with lots of shops, bars and restaurants in close walking distance. I love taking the boat to the stadium as it adds to the excitement. I always think that we're in a landing craft and going to hit the enemy beaches. I would love to arrange for those duck boats to be filled with Phillie's fans and stage a Philadelphia landing. Hope to see you at the game. Oh yea you should reserve your seat now call Bob at 267-847-2110.
