Once is not enough

Having just attended the first of two Eagles open practices, I find that I'm left wanting more. The first practice was cool but not as awe inspiring as in previous years. Am I becoming jaded to the Rock music ballet that Chip Kelly runs? Or am I distracted by the revolving door of Eagles players coming and going. Here come those doubts again, rushing in crowing out my thoughts of Championships and Super Bowls. No amount of rock music can cover up the play or lack of it on the field. And it's starts up front with the offense line. Can the backs-up step up, will a returning former player have his act together? Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts and minds of football players, the Chipper knows! That's how I'm going to deal the the doubting demons. I just push them way in the back of my mind and repeat "The Chipper knows, The Chipper knows" over and over till the last pre season game is over and they take the field for real. No matter what happens I'll be their for every game good, bad, ugly. How about you, will I see you in the parking lot?

Who's still on first?

Ok here's the line up. How bad do you think it will be. That said I hear Mon 4/6 opening day game is sold out, so the fans are coming out despite the poor predictions. If you need a ticket Cav has some check it out
The players with the asterisks next to their name are projected to start the season in Triple-A. Pettibone is coming back from shoulder surgery and Martin is coming back from a shoulder injury as well, so they are big unknowns. Same goes for Adam Morgan. Lineup 1. Ben Revere CF (LHB) 2. Freddy Galvis SS (SHB) 3. Chase Utley 2B (LHB) 4. Ryan Howard 1B (LHB) 5. Carlos Ruiz C (RHB) 6. Cody Asche 3B (LHB) 7. Domonic Brown RF (LHB) 8. Darin Ruf LF (RHB) Bench 1. Dec to Remember or one to forget

As the Eagles approach their final four games of the regular season I have to wonder how this year will be remembered. I remember a Monday night game  back in 2005 when the Seattle Seahawks gave us an ass whooping  42-0. I was thinking, "Who are these Seahawks and how are they kicking our ass." Time marches on but history never forgets.  Is this the season that they take that next step under Chip Kelly and assert dominance in the East?  Are the Eagles going to be hero's or turn out to be zeros? Only time will tell. I'll be there again, hoping and cheering that history doesn't repeat itself.
Where will you be and what will you be doing, cheering or jeering? Stop by and say hello I'm in Jetro's upper Lot "N"  next to pole #3. See you in the parking lot.

Last chance for wanna be Eagles

OK it's the last pre-season game for the Eagles and could be for many of the players who will play tonight. It's the last chance to impress the coaches and get a spot on the roster, which means we won't get to see the starters till Sept 7.  But I guess I still have the return of Mike Vic to look forward to, Not. I still hate him and hope the Jets cut him or some hungry Eagle rookie puts him out of the game.
I'll have to be satisfied with watch the 2's & 3's do their thing which wasn't too bad the last game. I really like our #2 QB Mark Sanchez who really seems to be thriving in his re-incarnation  as a Eagle.
I'm a fan and don't want to hear any talk about trading him. We need an experienced back up and he looks great. On the other side of the coin I'm not looking forward to another sub-par performance from the likes of Curtis "Toasted Marshmallow." Or am I looking forward to more flags thrown than there are plays in the game. It is what it is, pre-season after all and I'm just glad to be there in person.  So until then Go Birds and "I'll see you in the parking lot."

Deal or No Deal

As I count down the days to the Eagles home opener on Sept 16, I think about how much it's going to cost me for the year. I'm lucky to be able to buy tickets from my buddy Bobby Cavanaugh for face value vs what others sell them for. A quick check of the ticket sites shows that tickets in my section for the home opener where going for between $105 - $179 and $79 for a SRO. I got a deal! Then there is the parking. Parking in the lots next to the stadium is $54-$59 bucks. Parking across the street at Jetro is about $25. Another deal! Food & drinks are hard to calculate because everyone is different. Some people don't arrive until 1/2 before the game with that puzzled look on their face, Like where do I park? Not sure why these jerks even both to show. There is no way to park the car, walk to the stadium and get thru the gauntlet of pad down artists in a 1/2 hour! Some people like to make a day of it and arrive early set up their grill, and play in the parking lot, my kind of people. They could be eating hot dogs, they could be eating burgers, or ribs, or they could be eating filet mignon steak sandwiches with a shrimp, musses and clam salad if they eat at Cav's. The cost of parking in Jetro and getting all you can eat and drink at Cav's is about the same as just parking next to the stadium! Now that's a deal that I can live with for the entire year! Don't overpay eat at Cav's and I'll see you in the parking lot!"

Opening Day 2012

Ok just got back from Pittsburgh road trip and we had a ball. The next day after a win is always great but with so much uncertainty around the injury riddled Phillies this win was special. As always we stay at the Sheraton Station Square in the south side. A great place with many fine bars and restaurants within short walking distance. The weather was just beautiful both days and we got in early enough to enjoy the sights before the next days game. I must say the town was a little quite not the rocking city it was last year, but I'm sure that's due to the mid-week game and Easter week. Not that it deterred us from having a good time. I shocked many Pens fans by walking around in my  Orange and Black Flyer gear. Had a few yell obscenities as they speed past in their car, pussy's that they were. But overall most were nice. We got to PNC park the next day and parked the bus on the street next to another bus of Pirate fans, again shock and awe as we exited and set up our party. This group of revelers was a local group with the B11 Party Bus. They were very friendly, almost got some the girls to come home on our bus. Oh well maybe next trip, but  I'm definably  going to the B11 bar on the south-side next time I in town to check them out. Got to the game and our seats in sec 130 which was in the sun the whole game so we pealed off our extra layers of Phillie's gear. Settled in to watch Doc Halladay the pitching machine do his thing. As you know it was a low-scoring game 1 nothing, which was made special for us by the appearance of Gregg Murphy of Phillie's correspondent who noticed our sea of red and stopped by to chat. Too bad his mic when down so no sound bites but we got plenty of text messages from friends and family who said they saw us on TV. I posted a video of some of the more obnoxious Pirate fans who were pathetic in their heckling. "Halladay is over-rated," "You should have beat us by 7." Really? Is that all you got? Want a lesson in heckling? Let me introduce you to  Philly's own Bell Man Blair, who was not on this trip but is a legend at many stadiums to the chagrin of the local fans. Any why outside of few A-holes the people in Pittsburgh are great fun-loving bunch like the crew from that B11 Party Bus. Talk about your party animals, when we returned to the bus after the game they were dancing on the roof of the bus. Now that's my kinda of people. An hour and a half loop around the stadium in traffic after the game and we spotted them from the overhead and they were still dancing! These people know how to party after a loss. I can't imagine what would have happened if the Pirates won! Anyway another great road trip too bad if you missed it. Have a great week and I'll see you in the parking lot.

Is it too Early to think about the Phillies?

Ok so what do Eagles fans do now? If you like me you pray for good spring weather and start making plans to see the Phillies. There's nothing better than an opening day road and this year its' in Pittsburgh. What a great town, I've been there many times and always have a ball. This year I'm returning to the scene of last year's fun-filled stay at the Sheraton station Square. Great place with lots of shops, bars and restaurants in close walking distance. I love taking the boat to the stadium as it adds to the excitement. I always think that we're in a landing craft and going to hit the enemy beaches. I would love to arrange for those duck boats to be filled with Phillie's fans and stage a Philadelphia landing. Hope to see you at the game. Oh yea you should reserve your seat now call Bob at 267-847-2110.

2 Down 14 to Go

Ok so we're 50/50 not great not bad. I see some light at the end of the offensive line tunnel. I just can't wait till the end of the year for them to gel. This Sunday is going to be the best weather  day of the week and I can't wait to get to my first tailgate of the year. I see Cav added an option to buy tailgate tickets in advance, smart move. Check it out Tailgate Party Pass. Any way with Vick out we get to see another QB which should make for an interesting day. Hope to see you in the parking lot.

Another Great Weekend of Fun

Started this weekend off early by going to the Eagles Pre-season game. Can't believe they wanted $25 to park for preseason games, when the Phillie's parking is $15-20. Boy do they rip off Eagles fans. Was a little late and missed the kick-off but was there in time for birds 1st touchdown, Whoo Hooo. The speaker in my section wasn't working so it was hard to hear the calls and of course I forgot the radio. Oh well had a great time any way. The weekend continued Saturday at a tailgate Fundraiser for the Fritz family. They recently lost their dad to a drunk driver. How sad is that! Met some some old friends and made some new ones. They had two bands. Michael LaComp and AJ Slick. If you get a chance to see AJ Slick, check them out they were awesome. A great showing of love and support for the Fritz family. We wish them well.

Is There Magic In Ron Mexico?

There's a lot of talk about the new "Dream Team" AKA Da Eagles. A lot of it has to do with the supposed reason that free agents are coming to Philly is to play with Mike Vick. Is the chance to play with a convicted felon that much of a draw? I guess I'm now in touch with the pro-athlete mindset. I actual more excited t see what Vince Young's got. He's from the same mold as Vick. Talented athlete lacking the discipline to do what it takes to be great. I can't wait to see what Andy's rehab clinic can do with this latest QB acquisition. This team is either going to be the "Dream Team" or our Worst Nightmare if they don't get the "O" line fixed. Maybe Andy knows that his QBs need to be good runners because they are going to be running away from defenses when there is no blocking up front. We saw last year  that even the magic of Mick Vick couldn't  make defenders disappear and what happens when the catch the QB. My crystal ball is cloudy right now so I'll take a look later. Hope to see you in the parking lot.

Yes Virginia there will be Football

OK so they settled and it's off to the free agent races. One problem the Eagles seemed to has missed the starting gate. The long talked about Kevin Kolb trade is still not done. It's kind of like a game of musical chairs and the Eagles are looking like they might lose there catbird seat. Ok I still think Kolb is going to AZ but I don't think we're getting as much as was talked about during the lock-out. As other QB's come off the board it limits where he can go and starts to bring his compensation down. At this point you would be lucky to get a 2nd rounder in return. Gone are the dreams of a 1st rounded plus a starter for this year. Oh Well I'm still dusting off my tailgating gear. After all I'm a homer and will go to the games no matter what. I just hate waiting till the 3rd game of the season to see them live. Till then I'll see you in the parking lot.
